5-day Ashtanga Yoga Intensive

We are thrilled to welcome Chuck Miller back to United Yoga Montreal. Chuck’s rich background in teaching Ashtanga yoga, while incorporating his knowledge of Iyengar yoga makes him a master teacher that is sought after around the world. We hope you can join us for this unique, challenging and always fun intensive.

An exploration and study into the practice of Ashtanga Yoga

Each day will include an asana practice, followed by a discussion and a posture clinic. Chuck will explore elements revealed in the asana practice that he feels needs attention.

Possible subjects that he may explore:

  • Universal actions in Samasthitihi work for all postures.
  • Surya Namaskara and standing postures, the keys to all other postures.
  • Understanding the shoulder joints in inversions and arm balancing
  • Backbends
  • Hands-on adjustments clinic for teachers and students

Daily schedule:
11:00am – 5:00pm

(lunch hour to be determined each day by Chuck)

Chuck Miller has been practicing yoga earnestly since 1971 and finally learned Ashtanga Yoga from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 1980. Studies with Pattabhi include numerous extended and familial encounters in America and nearly 2 years during 7 trips to Mysore, South India.

Chuck enjoys teaching with a focus on the holistic nature of Ashtanga yoga, presenting it as a philosophical system as well as a strong practical method. Chuck is known for his gentle but deliberate hands-on adjustments which are both reassuring and challenging. A yoga teacher since 1988, Chuck is a former Director of Ashtanga Yoga and co-owned the original Yoga Works in Santa Monica, CA, for over 16 years. His current travel and teaching schedule is available on his web site: www.sama-ashtanga.org
