A unique opportunity to study and practice intensely with experienced and knowledgeable yoga teachers. This training is designed for students and teachers of all traditions who teach or who are interested in teaching groups of all levels. It is also for students and teachers who wish to take their own practice to a new level by deepening their understanding of Yoga.
Admission requirements:
• A regular yoga practice of at least one year (2-3 times a week) is recommended
In this essential yoga teacher training, the following components will be taught:
Detailed examination and analysis of over 40 classical yoga postures.
- Learning how to accurately practice and teach asana by breaking down the poses into component parts.
- Learning to adapt poses with the proper usage of props.
- Developing and maintaining a self-nourishing personal asana and meditation practice.
- Exploring how to wisely and safely adapt poses for different body types and different levels of flexibility and/or strength.
- Learning to modify poses or support students with specific needs from gender, age, injuries, pregnancy, menstrual cycle, etc….
Study skills that create good foundation for an effective teacher:
- Basic teaching skills
- Effective verbal communication
- Proper demonstration skills
- Observing, correcting, adjusting
- Classroom management
- Basic art of sequencing and hands on adjusting
The above will be taught through various methods including:
- Developing a home and classroom asana practice
- Developing a well rounded basic meditation practice
- Working with in-depth self exploration
- Group work and peer teaching
- Regular homework assignments
- Examination both theory and practical
We will, as a group, design practices for all major categories of poses including standing poses, backbends, twists, forward bends and inversions. Participants will practice a set sequence of poses from month to month to enhance their familiarity with both the basics of the poses from a teaching point of view as well as refinements meant for their own development.

How
This program will be offered by Hart Lazer and Donna Read in person at the studio listed above. It will also be offered on the ZOOM platform for those who cannot travel to be with us in person, or those who choose not to do so for health reasons.
Please note: If the government health regulations change, and we are NOT allowed to meet in person any longer, the program will move to the ZOOM platform only. We are dedicated to deliver this training to the best of our abilities during this uncertain time.
Language
This training is taught in English and French. There will not be a direct translation happening at all times.

Hart Lazer
Hart Lazer has been teaching and training Yoga teachers for more than 30 years.
Something of a cultural hybrid, he thrives in the alchemy distilled in the hatha yoga traditions including Iyengar and Ashtanga systems. Hart’s current teaching contains an emphasis on meditation, derived through the study of zen, Tibetan, and Buddhist practices. Using a tailored and multi-faceted approach, his intention is to guide individuals in their understanding of themselves, and despite the challenges of life, to do so with ease and enjoyment.
Hart’s major influences in his life and teaching are Ramanand Patel and Ken McCleod.
Being the co-founder of United Yoga Montreal gives Hart a home base from which he teaches nationally and internationally.
Donna Read
Donna Read, ERYT-500, is co-owner of United Yoga Montreal and Co-Founder of Le Centre de Yoga de Granby, she has been practicing yoga since 1996. At that time, she was already well established in the fitness industry where she taught workshops all over the world. Donna was a Nike Athlete and had several fitness videos to her name. She has studied mostly in the Ashtanga and Iyengar methods of Yoga with great teachers like Hart Lazer, Ramanand Patel, Father Joe Perrera, Chuck Miller, David Swenson and many more. Although since 2004, Donna has had the privilege and pleasure of studying under the guidance of Hart Lazer – whom she considers her teacher at heart. Dynamic and fun, Donna combines her knowledge and humour to make all her classes an enriching and unique experience.

Fees:
$2,850.00 plus tax paid in full by October 16th, 2020.
We also offer a monthly payment option for this training.

*United Yoga Montreal is an accredited yoga school recognized by Human Resources Development Canada and can provide tax receipts for all qualifying trainings.
Program Requirements:
• Submission of homework and assignments
• Monthly independent home yoga and meditation practices are given.
• Punctual attendance in full is mandatory. Should any hours be missed, the student
is responsible to make up these hours in order to receive a certificate of completion.
• Successfully pass both oral and written exams
