About Us United Yoga Montreal is dedicated to uniting the power and grace of Ashtanga Yoga, the restorative beauty of Kripalu Yoga, and the brilliant constructions, strategies, and healing techniques inspired by B.K.S. Iyengar. Teachers Bio’s hart lazerHart Lazer is co-owner of United Yoga Montreal and internationally recognized as a teacher of yoga teachers. Systematic, profound, thorough, sensitive and challenging, he is a master at teaching the mechanics of asana, having studied closely with Iyengar teacher Ramanand Patel for many years and undertaken a serious study of Ashtanga yoga. Hart Lazer offers his students the experience gained from his unique life story, from boyhood in a Jewish rabbinical school through a career in counseling and over 25 years as a yoga teacher and practitioner. In recent years Hart has explored the effects of Buddhism, yoga and trauma on the body and has developed a multi-dimensional approach to working with human difficulties. www.hartlazer.com donna readFounder of United Yoga Montreal, Donna has been practicing yoga since 1998. Her path has included learning from David Swenson, Dharma Mittra, Sri K. Patthabi Jois, John Friend, Mark Darby and others. Since 2004 Donna has had the privilege of studying under the guidance of hart lazer – whom she considers her teacher at heart. len blumBefore yoga, Len wrote a number of Hollywood movies including Meatballs (released in 1979), Stripes (1982), Beethoven’s 2nd (1993), Private Parts (1997), The Pink Panther, and Over The Hedge (2006). In December of 1999, after experiencing his very first class, he fell in love with yoga, and in September of 2000 he made a commitment to following his practice, wherever it led. Len completed Ashtanga Teacher Training in 2003 at Downward Dog Yoga Center, followed in 2005 by Advanced Teacher Training with hart lazer at Ashtanga Yoga Montreal. He continues to study under hart lazer. His current areas of study are: Len is a generous, down to earth, and compassionate teacher, who now genuinely dedicates his life to helping others through the ancient teachings of yoga. kelly mcgrathkelly mcgrath, is a certified and experienced Kripalu Yoga Instructor. She has been practicing yoga consistently for more than 20 years, and teaching full time for more than 10 years. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Kelly eventually settled in her favorite city, Montreal, and in 2001 founded JOY of YOGA studio. In 2009, Kelly merged her studio, with United Yoga Montreal, and is now proud to be co-director in this great new family. Kelly is a compassionate and knowledgeable teacher, whose classes are challenging, safe and infused with spirit to uplift the heart. She is known for her understanding of anatomical detail, creative asana sequencing, and inspiring thematic talks on yoga and meditation. She specializes in teaching yoga for a healthy menstrual cycle, restorative yoga, and loving-kindness meditation. Kelly is also dedicated to maintaining a regular Buddhist meditation practice. Over the years, Kelly has discovered that integrating Yoga and Buddhist meditation has provided a beautiful opportunity to experience steady presence, openness, health, joy and insight. www.joyofyoga.net michael bridge-dickson Michael began practicing yoga after 10 years as a classical and contemporary dancer. Having always been interested in the body as a link to the mind, emotions, and spirit, Michael immediately took to the physicality of Ashtanga Yoga. Through this practice, Michael began studying with hart lazer, who introduced him to a broader expression of Hatha Yoga. Michael applies what has learned through Hart's guidance to his teaching, practice, and daily life. As a teacher and student, Michael combines his keen eye and attention to detail with ongoing Ayurvedic, Tantric, and Restorative Yoga practices to enrich his and his students' consciousness of the inseparable aspects of mind, body, and spirit. alexis papadimitriou Alexis has been teaching yoga since 2001. He started with 2 teacher trainings with the Sivananda organisation. He then met Hart Lazer 3 years later and has been under his guidance since that time. Alexis is known as a teacher who offers precision, and at the same time allows for space so that intuition can be part of the process. razielle aigen Razielle began her exploration of yoga and meditation in 1999. After several years of committed practice, she completed yoga teacher training with her mentor hart lazer, and continues to deepen her practice through on-going intensive trainings with Hart and Ramanand Patel. Razielle is a sensitive and consciences teacher who aspires to make each class a creative space in which students can explore self-awareness and their own process in a methodical way. sebastien arcand-tourigny Although he likes to say that his embodied practices started with the contemplative walks he took in the woods as a child, Sebastien formally began yoga 20 years ago, as a complement and extension of his musical training. He later incorporated pure mathematics, different approaches to the mind and body (zen, qigong, long-distance running), as well as a currently ongoing degree in osteopathy. Sebastien combines these aspects to look at deeply rooted practices from unexpected new angles. He leads his challenging yet welcoming classes with inspiration, offering a balance of knowledge and experimentation, somewhere between mind-bending subtleties and bold heartfelt expression. christian pagé Christian Pagé has been teaching yoga since 1998. He first studied the classical form with the Sivananda school and studied the Ashtanga form for two years. He completed teacher trainings in both methods and is now studying Hatha yoga with Hart Lazer since 2005. liven tam Liven began her exploration of yoga in 2004 and is inspired in the Kripalu tradition. Her interest is in bringing the mind and body into harmony. She enjoys to share her love of yoga in a mindful, creative practice that encourages students to develop their intuition at a level that is personally challenging. By keeping an eye on detail and alignment, students enjoy a safe and nurturing environment during their practice. corinne poracchia A Physical Education graduate from Lyon, France, a former model, and founder of the Folio modeling agency, Corinne started her yoga practice in Autumn of 2000. After several weeks of regular practice, she quickly realized that yoga would become much more than just another physical activity that promised to bring balance into her life as a businesswomen. Since then, yoga has indeed become an integral part of her daily life. In an effort to expand her practice, she has participated in workshops with Hart Lazer, Leigh Evans, Gérard Arnaud, Richard Freeman, John Friend, Desirée Rumbaugh, and many others. In 2007, she completed her first yoga teacher training with Lyne St-Roch. She then completed a 12-month Ashtanga yoga teacher training with Mark Darby in 2008. Corinne believes that every person can experience wellness and a sense of calm if they feel good about themselves. By emphasizing breath control, concentration, and the balance between strength and flexibility, she conducts her classes in a way that encourages students to refine their own body-mind awareness. As she enthusiastically continues to teach and develop her own practice, Corinne hopes to uplift people and help them discover the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga. |
